Karen Millen Returns to Her Eponymous Label
British fashion designer Karen Millen, who founded the eponymous Karen Millen label in 1993, has rejoined the company as creative director on a permanent basis. Millen served in the same role from 1993 to 2007, before it was taken over by the Aujan Group.
Reviving the Karen Millen DNA
Millen said she aims to revive the original Karen Millen DNA based on flattering and feminine styles, craftsmanship, and high quality. She wants to make the brand vibrant again and work with its core customers, whom she knows well after 30 years in business. Millen will produce capsule collections as well as consult on all parts of the business.
contemporary and timeless
Millen’s design philosophy combines contemporary silhouettes and details with timeless shapes, fabrics and finesse. Her collections offer elevated staples, occasion wear, and versatile separates in a range of prints, textures, and colors. Key pieces include pencil skirts, blouses, dresses, coats, trousers and acclaimed knitwear. Accessories include scarves, bags and jewelry.
Returning to her passion
Millen said she was approached a year ago to rejoin Karen Millen and “jumped at the chance.” As the original founder and one of the most experienced designers in British fashion, she is passionate about the brand, its heritage and future potential. “Karen Millen was ahead of its time when I started it in 1993, and I believe it still has that power today,” Millen said. “I’m really happy to be working with such a fantastic group of people to take the brand forward.”
Revitalizing a storied label
Millen’s permanent return signals the revival of a label with a storied history and place in British fashion. Under new ownership and creative direction, Karen Millen aims to rekindle its pioneering spirit, build on three decades of success, and emerge stronger than before. This move shapes up as an important moment of renewal for a brand with timeless style and poised for continued growth.
