Frasers Group, the retail organization controlled by British billionaire Mike Ashley, has revealed its plan to open a new flagship store for its popular sports brand, Sports Direct. This new store will be the third flagship location for Sports Direct, with the first two located in London and Manchester.
According to reports, the upcoming store will have a retail space spanning over 65,000 square feet and will be located in Leicester. The store will include multiple levels and will offer a wide range of sports equipment and apparel from popular brands such as Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.
Frasers Group has stated that the new store will create over 150 jobs for the local community and that it will be a significant boost for the local economy. The store is expected to open in the first half of 2022.
The announcement of the new flagship store comes as Frasers Group continues to expand its portfolio of retail brands. Frasers Group currently owns a number of popular high street names such as House of Fraser, Flannels, and Evans Cycles. The company has been actively acquiring new brands and stores over the past year, including the recent acquisition of luxury department store, Jenners, in Edinburgh.
The opening of the third Sports Direct flagship store is expected to be a major event for the company and will further cement its position as a leading sports retailer in the UK.
