Burberry Recruits Supply Chain Chief From Kering
Luxury brand Burberry has appointed José Neves as Chief Supply Chain Officer, effective July 1. Neves joins from Kering Group where he held the same title.
Strengthen global supply chain
The appointment aims to strengthen Burberry’s global supply chain and logistics operations across product design, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution and customer service. Neves will be a key member of Burberry’s executive committee and report directly to CEO Marco Gobbetti.
Record of optimizing supply chains
Neves has a strong track record of optimizing complex global supply chains and improving profitability, quality, speed and sustainability. At Kering, he oversaw supply chain operations for brands including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga.
Enhance key capabilities
“José’s appointment will enhance key capabilities vital to delivering our strategic priorities and growth plans,” said Gobbetti. “His experience transforming supply chains at major luxury groups will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our advantaged foundations, improve our agility and operate with even greater discipline.”
Key growth opportunities
Supply chain optimization is seen as key to unlocking further growth opportunities at Burberry, which continues to expand its product range, open new stores and grow its digital business and omni-channel customer engagement. The appointment suggests a focus on managing costs, minimizing waste and improving margins through supply chain efficiency.
Seamless integration
Neves will play an integral role in ensuring a seamless integration of the supply chain following Burberry’s acquisition of US-based beauty company Dr. Jart+ earlier this year. His experience overseeing luxury supply chains likely appealed to Burberry given its expanding beauty and skincare operations.
